A Special Visit to Our Community Hub

We were excited to welcome Stephen Gamble, Settlement Network Officer from the Office for Multicultural Affairs (Queensland), to the St Brendan’s Community Hub! Stephen came by to see all the wonderful things happening here and learn how we support families who are new to Australia.

The Hub is a warm, welcoming space where families can find help with everyday things like English lessons, filling out forms, and navigating life in Australia. There’s also a playgroup and a toy library for the little ones – making it a great place for parents and kids to connect.

Stephen shared some extra services that his team offers, which could give even more support to families who visit the Hub. It’s all about working together to make life easier for those settling into a new country.

Our Principal, Cathie Caldwell, summed it up perfectly: “It is a lifeline for some of the families who come here who can feel isolated in their new country.”

Families really appreciate the care and kindness of Menal and Elizabeth, who go out of their way to help. One lady even told Stephen that the Hub feels like a second family to her – and that’s exactly what we hope to be.

The Hub is here for you, so if you know someone who’s new to Australia or just needs a friendly place to connect, spread the word!
