The St Brendan’s Moorooka community had the privilege of visiting Ngutana-Lui, Brisbane Catholic Education’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Studies Centre. This special whole-school excursion provided our students with a unique opportunity to deepen their awareness, appreciation, and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and spiritualities.
Throughout the day, students engaged in a range of hands-on and interactive activities, including art, dance, and storytelling. These experiences allowed them to explore the richness and diversity of the world’s oldest living cultures in a meaningful and memorable way.
We are especially grateful to Sam, Marlon, Robert, and Brian, who generously shared their knowledge, traditions, and stories with us. Their guidance helped our students connect with important cultural perspectives and values that continue to shape our shared history and identity.
This excursion reflects our ongoing commitment to fostering respect, understanding, and reconciliation within our school community. It was a day filled with learning, reflection, and celebration of culture—one that our students will carry with them for years to come.
